What is a Charter School? SCMSA is a tuition-free public school independent of the St. Cloud School District. Being a charter school allows us to offer unique opportunities to our students without sacrificing accessibility or seeking a profit. Because we are independent of a school district, our school is governed by those who know our students best--our licensed teachers and administrators as well as parents and the community. Like other public schools, we welcome all students, regardless of background or ability, and hope to see all of our students thrive throughout their time at our school. We abide by the same laws that ensure student safety as public school districts do, and hold our teachers and students to the same high standards by offering a high-quality core curriculum that ensures that our students receive all the building blocks they need for success. Academics At St. Cloud Math and Science Academy, we provide a rigorous education that prepares our students for success by giving them the practical skills they will need to succeed in their future careers. We are proud of our focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) education, which helps our students solve real world problems with hands-on activities. Our highly skilled educators integrate STEM into all of our classrooms and courses, and students will build more specialized knowledge in the all-rounded STEM class, which gives students an opportunity for instruction in the computer lab. In addition to our core classes (Math, Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies), we also offer a variety of specialist subjects, such as Art and Physical Education, to ensure that our students receive a well-rounded education. Learn More Social Studies Through our Social Studies curriculum, St. Cloud Math and Science Academy provides students with a comprehensive understanding of history, geography, economics, and government. Through engaging activities and projects, students will explore the past to better understand the present and learn to become active, informed citizens who engage with their communities and think critically about the world around them. Science Our Science curriculum is designed to spark curiosity and promote hands-on learning. From exploring the human body to investigating the natural world, students engage in a variety of experiments and activities that help them develop a deep understanding of scientific concepts as they relate to real-world problems. We offer STEM Integration days as an opportunity for students to immerse themselves in a deep dive of exploration to uncover as much as they can about the world around them. Math Our math curriculum will help students develop a deep understanding of core mathematical concepts. With a combination of interactive lessons, worksheets, and assessments, students will develop a comprehensive understanding of the fundamentals while problem-solving activities and real-world application problems give students the opportunity to think logically and creatively, skills that will allow them to become confident problem-solvers and critical-thinkers in real-world situations. Language Arts With our Language Arts curriculum, students will reach their maximum potential in literacy and communication. Our program provides unmatched support for building strong reading and writing skills by encouraging students to engage with complex text, find and use text evidence, and engage in collaborative conversations. Building strong language skills will help students express themselves with confidence as they grow. Art Our Art program at St. Cloud Math and Science Academy provides students with a variety of opportunities to explore their creativity and express themselves through various mediums. From painting to sculpture to digital art, students engage in a range of artistic activities that help them develop both technical skills and creativity. Physical Education At St. Cloud Math and Science Academy, we believe that physical health is an essential component of overall well-being. Our Physical Education program provides students with a range of activities and exercises that promote physical fitness and healthy habits. Up STEM Our Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) program teaches students to think analytically about the world around them while gaining hands-on skills and experience that will be useful to them in their daily lives and beneficial to their future education and careers.
